Box Elder / Manitoba Maple wood vase.  9 " diameter.  Finished with polyurethane and Lacquer.  Pyrography decoration added to top.  Not water-proofed so for potpourri of dry inserts only . Adding sand and  decorative dry branch would made for a good still-life piece.  Ref: Vase-Ina-1-

Left:"Resurrection Cross"  He is not here; he is risen as he said... Lk.   8 " X 12" X 1" cross depicting an empty space ... on the cross or an empty tomb.  Made from Friendly Forest Spruce wood, grain texture created by brushing out the softer  wood and highlighting the  hard grain.  It was then dyed with a brown analine dye, and polished with paste wax.  It comes in a special presentation gift bag with a card explaining the significance of the image. Right: Serving Tray, Red border wood is Padauk; light wood is Birch.  Images  created with pyrography and the application of analine dyes.  Inside finished with waterproof poly-resin surface. Ref:  STFallLeaves -3

Both are finished with a clear, matt lacquer.

Although each image comes from the same  basic outline, they have taken on differences during the wood burning process.  I used a black and white photograph of Wolf to make these images.  Each seems to have taken on its own life in the images.

Larger version of the birch bowl illustrated above.  Creating these colour effects requires  a combination of experience, luck and the application of the laws of physics, as well as a few strategic bursts of lacquer spray  at the right time in the right place. Ref. #:2379 CB
These are a series of boxes in birch wood with leaf / plant decoration burned into the  simple, blond wood.  I have used aniline dyes AFTER an initial sealer coat of Varathane.  When the wood is sealed the dyes, in a methyl hydrate solution, can be treated much as watercolour paints.

"Inipi Wolf" image burned onto birch plate.  14 inch diameter.

This is a custom item requested by a client.  The image to the left shows the unfinished wood.  The image to the right shows the finished item. Varathane and Lacquer  was used to seal the sufrface   Ref:  "Inipi_Wolf_Plate3"

Aspen, end-grain  trivets with aspen leaves burned into one surface.  Each trivet is approximately 6.5 inches in diameter.  They are sealed with polyurethane finish to make them water proof and stain resist.  Wipe with damp cloth to clean. (Ref # 2349 TR - 2357TR)
